Four Lady Bearcats and two Bearcats will continued their track seasons Saturday at the Class 1, sectional meet at Holden High School. The top four finishers in each event advance to the sectional meet Saturday. The Orrick girls finished fifth in the District 7 meet held Monday at St. Joseph Christian High School, while the boys finished 11th in the meet that was originally scheduled for Saturday, but pushed back because of inclement weather.
The Lady Bearcats ended the competition with 69 points in the 12-school field. Polo took first place with 126 points, with Kansas City Lutheran grabbing second spot with 108, and North Andrew third with 89. DeKalb finished ahead of Orrick with 71 points.
Samantha Fulte ended the day with three firsts and a runner-up finish for Orrick. The Lady Bearcat sophomore won the 100-meter dash with a time of 16.8 seconds, and in the field, won the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 2 inches and the long jump with a leap of 15-9. Fulte’s second-place finish came in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.13, which was just .06 behind Polo’s Avery Snodgrass. Sydnee McGlothlin captured the other first-place showing for Orrick when the junior threw the discus 103-3. Fellow Lady Bearcats Madison Endsley grabbed third spot with a distance of 99-7 ½.
