Dale F. Carter, 67, of Richmond, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kan..
Dale was born June 9, 1945 in Kansas City, Mo. to Frank and Louisa (Gorham) Carter. He married Nancy LaBella of Overland Park, Kan. Feb. 14, 1998. She survives of the home.
Dale had worked as a painter most of his life. He had worked for Hendrix Painting Company then retiring from GSA after 25 years. Dale had lived in the Dockery and Richmond areas most of his life.
Survivors include one son, Brian Carter of Richmond; one daughter, Stephanie Martens and her companion Chris Purzer of Gladstone, two sisters, Bettie Mohn of Donna, Texas and Billie Peery of Independence; 14 grandchildren, Donald, Austin, Katie, Whitney, Kelley, Emily, Dezarae, Nicole, Brody, Isabelle, Avery, Blaise, Makinzie, and Gabriel; one great-grandson, Aadyn; one step-son, James and Philicia Audley of Waxahachie, Texas; two step-daughters, June Marie Audley and her spouse, Mike Glor of Olathe, Kan. and Julie Ann Bunch of Overland Park, Kan.; and several nieces , nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Carter.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ray County Humane Society.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Saturday, May 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.
