Millville 4-H met on May 8. Forty members present and 13 leaders/guests were present.
For this month’s meeting the group met at Shirkey’s for the annual flower planting meeting. The group planted flower beds and flower pots all around the building. After the flower planting the group met at the park for pizza and games.
The next meeting is June 5. Upcoming events include the group’s 5k coming in June for the fair fundraiser.
The Guys and Gals 4-H Club met on April 11. There were 24 members and 15 guests in attendance. Concession stands duties were discussed.
Members signed up to work the Mud Run at the Ray County Fairgrounds on April 27.
There was a reminder about being a member in good standing by attending at least 6 club meetings and completing 4 hours of community service. Members in good standing also do the county fund raiser selling Sonic Cards or Price Chopper coupon books.
Project reports were given about Horse Judging, Shooting Sports and Horse Group.
The calendar of events was read. Parents gave out praises and acts of kindness to the members.
The Guys and Gals 4-H Club met on May 9. There were 26 members and 19 guests in attendance. President Aaron Shank reminded members about the requirements for being a member in good standing. A member must be in good standing to show at the Ray County Fair.
A report was given by treasurer Olivia Kincaid on the Mud Run concession stand. Each member will receive a Ray County Fair T-shirt sponsored by The State Bank.
Congratulations to Emily Henderson for placing 8th at the state Horse Bowl High Individual and 7th in Hippology. The county senior team placed 4th in Horse Bowl and 3rd in Hippology.
Gwen Gilbow reminded members that it is important to show at the county fair, especially showing the inside exhibits, doing a demonstration and public speaking.
A report on shooting sports was given and a reminder on the total hours needed to be able to complete at the fair. Livestock groups need to be sure to check on requirements needed to be able to show.
The next meeting will be on Thursday June 13. The Ray County Fair and concession stand duties will be discussed.
