Rebecca Ann “Becki” Schildknecht was born March 7, 1968 in Tucson, Ariz. and departed this life, after a brief battle with cancer, April 7, 2013 at her home in Warrensburg, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 45 years and 1 month. She was the daughter of Thomas and Barbara (Harrison) Bakie.
Becki graduated from Branson High School and obtained a music degree from the College of the Ozarks. On June 2, 1990, she was united in marriage with Kevin D. Schildknecht at the First Presbyterian Church of Branson and to this union two children, Tyler and Morgan were born.
The Schildknecht family had been residents of Warrensburg, for the last 11 years where Becki was a Library Technician for the University of Central Missouri.
Becki was a vibrant and talented young woman. She was a gifted flute player and was a member of the Sedalia Symphony, Sedalia. Becki loved to read, crochet and cross-stitch and passed that love on to her daughter, Morgan.
Becki was an active member of the Long Branch Baptist Church, (rural Odessa) where her husband, Kevin, is the pastor, and was the Sunday school teacher for the adult class and performed many flute solos for the services.
She is survived by her husband Rev. Kevin D. Schildknecht and two children, Tyler Dean Schildknecht and Morgan Janae Schildknecht all of the home. Her parents; Thomas and Barbara Bakie of Nixa. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law; Darvin and Donna Schildknecht of Cleveland. One brother; William Bakie of Branson. Three sisters, Kristen Gutierrez and husband Daniel of Lincoln, Nebraska; Sheri Wojowicz and husband Chris of Diamond, and Jennifer Bruton and husband Mike of Forsyth. One brother-in-law, Kyle Schildknecht and wife Carmen of Springfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
Funeral Service for Becki A. Schildknecht is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Grover Park Baptist Church, Warrensburg, with Rev. Robert Sisney, officiating. Honorary casket bearers will be Larry Gregory, Dennis Huff, David Luff, Charles Osborn, Donald Rider, Kyle Schildknecht, Don Tye, and Brent York.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time at 7 p.m. at the church on Friday. Cremation will be accorded after service.
Memorial contributions in memory of Becki may be made to the Long Branch Baptist Church Memorial Fund (memorials or live plants preferred.)
