Fulte wins four events for Orrick Lady Bearcats

The Lady Spartans picked up eight first-place finishes at Thursday’s Bill Hamann Invitational in Lexington to help Richmond to a runner-up showing. Higginsville finished the day with 162 points – 40 ahead of the Lady Spartans, while Orrick grabbed third place with 65 to edge Santa Fe by a point. Carrollton finished fifth with 44 points, followed by Grain Valley’s junior varsity with 42; Lexington with 34; and Smithton with 18.
Lady Spartan junior Mary Beth Bailey, who set a new school record in the 3,200-meter run at the McCush Invitational in Boonville two weeks ago, added two more wins to her total Thursday. Bailey won the 3,200 with a time of 12 minutes, 37.02 seconds, and then picked up another victory in the 1,600 with a time of 5:54.56 to edge teammate Emma Long, who crossed the line in 6:10.02.
Marisa Swartz of Orrick placed fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 14:93.
Richmond sophomore Savannah Hamilton picked up her fourth consecutive win in the 800 meters. Thursday’s winning time was 53.62. She also was on three winning relay teams for the Lady Spartans.
The 4 x 200 team of Hamilton, Madison Cole, Mallory Cole and Kerrigan Maddox turned in the winning time of 1:56.96; the 4 x 400 team of Mallory Cole, Madison Cole, Hamilton and Elizabeth Windsor won in 4:35.71; and the 4 x 800 squad of Paige Pierson, Hamilton, Long and Bailey had the top time of 11:15.
