Robert E. “Bob” Hartman

Robert E. “Bob” Hartman, 79, of Richmond, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his home.

Bob was born  May 30, 1933 in Wathena, Kan. to Toney and Marie (Huffman) Hartman. He married Margaret Ann (Shea) Hartman of Arkansas City, Kan. June 28, 1958; she preceded him in death  June 20, 2004.

Bob was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a repairman for Southwestern Bell for 38 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post # 237 and the V.F.W. Post #4398 in Richmond.

Survivors include one son and daughter in-law, Steven L. and Christine Hartman of Holt; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie A. and Greg Hyder of Richmond, Susan L. and Terry Galle of Richmond and Patti J. and Tom Claire of Richmond; one sister, Mildred Sauer of Grand Junction, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Hartman, Toney Hartman and Charles Hartman; and one sister, Virginia Hartman.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either St. Vincent De Paul or to the Richmond V.F.W. Post #4398.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, March 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond where the rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Ray County Veterans.
