On March 2, students from Richmond High School went to Harrisonville for the All-Conference Band concert. The students practiced for over six hours to prepare for the show. Richmond had 10 all-conference musicians and was represented in almost every section of the band.
Conductor for the day was David Robinson from Knob Noster. Typically the conductor is not a band director from within the conference; however, this year was an exception because Mr. Robinson is retiring. He taught the students new practice techniques and helped them with the music they had to learn in a day.
The students played five songs for the concert, covering multiple styles and genres. It’s a good way to learn about different music and get to play with many other good musicians. Twelve schools participated in the event, and the band had about 90 members. The RHS band will be competing at the state music festival and going to a festival in Branson.
