Julie Lynn Messick, age 51, Republic, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, She was born Feb. 6, 1962 in Richmond, to Gerald Calvin, II, and Mary Lynn (Farris) Carter.
Julie has been active with the Republic Area Chamber of Commerce for several years and currently was serving as the Executive Director. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Richmond.
Julie lived life to the fullest, enjoying every day, and spending time with her family and friends.
Julie’s father, Jerry Carter, preceded her in death. Her survivors include her two children, Josh Messick and Holly Messick, both of Springfield; her fiancé Steve Hogan, Republic; Steve’s children, Tera Hogan and Russell Hogan; Julie’s mother, Lynn (Carter) McCullough and husband Neal, Richmond, Mo; her maternal grandmother, Carol Farris, Richmond; a brother, Jason Carter, Ozark; two sisters, Jamie Shurmantine, Aurora, Ohio, and Jill Hinchey, Kearne.
There will be a visitation 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. A Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the Family Life Center at the Hood United Methodist Church, Republic. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Republic. There also will be a memorial service at the Richmond United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. March 24. Memorial contributions are suggested to the scholarship fund for Josh and Holly.
