Easter weekend activities


At 6 p.m., The Ray County Democrats will meet at the Richmond Housing Authority, 302 N. Camden.  The Democrat Committee will meet with the Democrat Club meeting at 7 p.m.


At 7 p.m., The United Christian Presbyterian Church and the Richmond United Methodist Church invite you to attend their annual Maundy Thursday service at Richmond United Methodist Church. This service will feature the sacrament of Holy Communion and the message will be by Pastor Johnson of the UCP Church. All are welcome.



Beginning at 7 a.m., Team Rossy – 5K Walk or Run to benefit Relay for Life will be held at Norborne High School.  Contact Tina Lyon at 660-542-8653 for more information.


Beginning at 9 a.m., The City of Richmond Recreation department along with several area businesses and individuals will host an annual Easter Egg Hunt at Maurice Roberts Park.  Grades 2-4 will hunt at 9 a.m., grades K-1 at 10 a.m., and birth to preschool at 11 a.m.


At 11 a.m., Messenger Chapel hosts its 4th annual Easter Program at the Ray County Veterans Building, 312 Clark St.  in Richmond. Registration starts at 10 a.m. The church will give away 100 bicycles, 100 Easter baskets along with a huge Easter egg hunt.


From 1 to 3 p.m., Excelsior Springs VA will host a open house at 197 McCleary Rd., Excelsior Springs.  Bring a copy of your DD-214 to enroll for healthcare benefits.


From 1 to 4 p.m., A combined wedding anniversary party for J.B. and Betty Lou Martin and their neighbors and friends, Al and Dortha Wilson, will be held at Ray County Museum. Call Linda Martin Emley at 776-2305 for information.


From 6 to 10 p.m., Richmond music jam at the Eagleton Center, 1015 W. Royle in Richmond. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the jam begins at 6 p.m. Bring your instruments or just come and listen.



At 6:30 a.m., Richmond Assembly of God, 303 S. College St., will have its junior communion service. Regular worship service at 10:45 a.m.


Beginning at 7 a.m., Rock Falls Baptist Church, 10858 Rock Falls Rd in Orrick, hosts it sunrise service with breakfast following. Sunday school at 10 a.m. with regular worship service at 11 a.m.


At 7 a.m., New Hope United Methodist Church will hold sunrise services with a breakfast to follow.


Beginning at 8:30 a.m., Old Union Christian Union Church, 17990 North Union Rd., five miles east of Lawson, will serve Easter breakfast with worship services at 10 a.m.


Beginning at 9 a.m., United Christian Presbyterian Church, 501 Spartan Dr. in Richmond, offers church school and 10 a.m. Easter worship service. An Easter egg hunt for children follows services.


From 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., First Baptist Church, Richmond will host Celebrate Recovery led by Mike Bliss.  For general information, 816-776-2296.


Beginning at 8:30 a.m., Dockery Baptist Church, 15049 Dockery Rd, north of Richmond, will have its sunrise service. Breakfast served at 9 a.m., Easter egg hunt at 10 and worship service at 10:30.


At 10 a.m.,  The Richmond United Methodist Church located at 212 West Main Street in Richmond will hold their Celebration of the Resurrection Communion Service during the regular worship service. The United Methodist Church has an open communion table, and all are welcome to receive. For more information call 816-776-2122.
