Richmond Mayor Mike Wright has declared a state of emergency due to the winter storm that dumped nearly a foot of snow Thursday. The declaration makes it possible for the city to access all possible resources and minimize the storm’s impact on residents.
The city asks residents to minimize travel to allow snow removal and emergency crews to do their work more effectively.
The city imposed its snow ordinance. Parked cars along roads need to be relocated so plows can clear roads or they be ticketed or towed.
If a vehicle must be parked on a residential street, the city asks that vehicles be parked on the west side of streets that run north and south. On east-west streets, vehicles should be parked on the north side.
Inquiries about snow removal should be directed to Bobby Duncan, street superintendent at 816-462-8787.
