‘Musical Potpourri’ returns after 9-year hiatus

Their goals haven’t changed much since Bonnie George and Billie Hamann got together in 1990 to put on Richmond’s first Musical Potpourri.

Twenty-three years later, on the eve of their eighth Potpourri, the volunteers say they hope to display Ray County talents – vocal and instrumental – in classical numbers and show tunes, expose residents to the formal recital format and, above all, raise money for the operation of their beloved Farris Theatre.

“She has been on the stage working with me, handing out programs,” George said of Hamann, co-producer of the Potpourri that will take place Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. on the Farris stage. “I don’t know what I’d do without here.”

Last week, the woman discussed the history of the shows, all the while divvying up who would take care of which details in bringing the Potpourri together.
