A 23-point outburst in the third quarter was enough to help the Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs to a 48-38 road victory Friday night at Winston.
The Lady Bulldogs trailed entering the second half before the offense came to life. Hardin-Central held a 10-6 lead after the first period, but Winston battled back with a 12-6 scoring advantage in the second quarter to hold the lead at the intermission.
Olivia Ellis led the way for the Lady Bulldogs, who improve to 13-7 for the season. Ellis ended the night with a double-double by scoring a game-high 19 points to go along with her 10 rebounds. She converted 11 of 17 free throws as Hardin-Central visited the stripe 36 times and made 21 of those attempts.
The Red Birds attempted only 12 free throws and were good on 7 of them.
Alex Paul added 11 points as she missed just one of her half dozen free throw attempts, in addition to grabbing 7 rebounds with a pair of steals.
