The Orrick Lady Bearcats got the offense going in the second half Friday night and as a result, got back over the break-even mark in the I-70 Conference with a 48-35 win at Lone Jack. Orrick, now 2-1 in the league and 8-11 overall, had two Lady Bearcats reach double figures with Sam Fulte hitting for a game-high 19 points, and Madison Winters adding 15 more.
Although they only shot 29 percent from the field, the Lady Bearcats got a big boost at the free throw line – especially in the second half. Orrick ended the night making 16 of 21 from the stripe, but was 3 for 3 in the third quarter and missed just three of 10 attempts in the final 8 minutes. Winters was 10 of 12 from the line and Fulte made all three of her attempts.
“I was proud of how we responded after halftime Friday night,” Orrick Coach Mitch Comstock said. “We picked up our defensive intensity and started rebounding better.”
