Jeremiah “Jeremy” Alan Proffitt, 32, of Rayville, died Feb. 22, 2013 at his home.
Jeremy was born March 19, 1980 at Ray County Hospital in Richmond, to Mark Alan and Terri Lee (Brewer) Proffitt.
He married June Ashley Buffington of Richmond Dec. 16, 2011, she survives of the home.
Jeremy was a 1998 graduate from Richmond High School. While in high school Jeremy also attended trade school at Lex-La-Ray in Lexington, for auto mechanics. Jeremy had worked as an auto and motorcycle mechanic, much of what he had learned as a child from his father. Jeremy was currently working as a generator technician/mechanic for Central Powers Systems in Liberty. He had also worked at Comet Generator Company in Kansas City, Mo.
Jeremy was of the Christian faith and attended church at Todd’s Chapel and Rayville Christian Union Church. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and loved motorcycles.
Additional survivors include three children: Anna Rose Proffitt of Oak Grove, Ashton Bowen and Addison June Proffitt both of the home; parents Mark and Terri Proffitt of Richmond; one brother, Joshua James Proffitt of Kansas City, Mo.. father and mother-in-law, Bill and Karen Buffington of Richmond; and grandmother, Marie Brewer of Richmond.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather M.F. Brewer and his paternal grandparents Lloyd and Leta Proffitt.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to his children’s college fund.
Memorial services will be held Friday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Friends and family will gather for visitation one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at a later date.
