Four Bulldogs, two of them starters, scored in double figures Friday night to boost Hardin-Central to a 78-53 win at Winston. Cole Leakey scored a team-high 13 points and Clif Kugler added 12, while Mitchell White came off the bench to score 11 and Sean Utley also came off the bench to hit for 10 points as the Dawgs improved to 14-6.
Seven other Bulldogs reached the scoring column.
Hardin-Central got a big boost from the free throw line as the Bulldogs paraded to the stripe 42 times while converting 28 of those attempts. Leakey scored 11 of his points from the line on 14 free throw attempts. Winston, now 10-11, made half of its 20 free throws.
Kugler, who also pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds, scored his first 8 points of the night in the opening period as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 25-10 lead. Hardin-Central held a 37-23 lead at the half and took a 51-33 cushion into the final 8 minutes where the Dawgs broke loose for 27 more points.
