A short-handed Richmond squad lost an MRVC East dual at Carrollton Tuesday night 39-30. The Trojans earned 24 of those points through opens as Richmond fell to 1-1 in league duals and 1-6 overall.
The Spartans won six of the nine contested matches – three of those coming by falls.
Four Spartans medal at Excelsior
Four of the six Richmond Spartan wrestlers picked up medals at Saturday’s Excelsior Springs Tournament.
Garrison Sanders earned a second-place medal as he put together a 4-1 record in the 138-pound Black bracket.
Two other Spartans finished third. Dylan Seely placed third in the 132-pound Gold bracket with a 3-2 record for the day. Kaleb Heber also brought home a third-place medal when he split his four matches in the 220-pound Black bracket.
Alex Hays placed fourth in the 285-pound black bracket as he won two of his three matches in Pool competition. He lost in the championship semifinals to Collin Braun of Warrensburg and then fell to Mark Ingraham of Excelsior Springs in the third-place match.
