Hardin-Central hit 42 percent of its field goals as the Dawgs stopped visiting Orrick 53-33 Friday night. Although no one reached double digits, several Bulldogs got in on the scoring act as Hardin-Central improved to 12-5 for the season.
Leonard Chilcutt, Cole Leakey and Lane Coldiron all hit for 8 points to lead eight other Bulldogs in scoring. Coldiron also grabbed 5 rebounds with a pair of blocked shots. Tanner Werle led the Orrick scoring with 10 points. Despite the loss, Orrick Coach Jared McMahon said his troops battled for all four quarters.
“Contrary to the score,” he said. “That is the best this team has played. Our defense was as good as it’s been and we showed great patience on offense. It’s hard when we shoot around 20 percent from 2-point range and 14 percent from 3-points, but we just couldn’t get anything to fall.”
