Richmond School Board added a year to its superintendent’s contract Jan. 8, extending Dr. Damon Kizzire’s employment through the 2014-15 school year.
In a separate vote, the board also approved a potential increase for Kizzire of up to $9,000 for 2014-15, but any raise would require an additional vote by the board.
The superintendent is currently under contract through the end of the 2013-14 school year at a salary of $97,210.
The vote to extend his current contract a year wasn’t unanimous. According to minutes from the board’s closed session Jan. 8, the vote was 4-1-1. Approving the extension were Board President Chris Minnick, Vice President Connie Taylor and members Gwen Weate and Joey Duncan. Member Dale Vandiver voted against and Jon Thoreson abstained. Board member Steve Rittmiller was absent.
