After turning in one of their better efforts of the season Friday night, the Orrick Bearcats took a step backward Tuesday according to coach Jared McMahon. The Bearcats fell behind early and never recovered in a 72-34 home loss to Crest Ridge in an I-70 Conference matchup.
Orrick managed just 13 field goals and turned the ball over 25 times as the Bearcats fell to 0-18 overall and 0-2 in league play.
“That might be one of our worst games we’ve played this year, which is especially discouraging since I just praised our effort Friday night at Hardin,” McMahon said. “We’ll get better tomorrow.”
Taylor Neal poured in 14 of his 20 points in the opening 8 minutes to help the Cougars bolt to a 28-6 lead. Crest Ridge then built a 48-19 cushion at the half and held a 64-30 advantage after three periods.
