Floyd B. Rushing, 84, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Shirkey Nursing Home.
He & his wife Marie lived in Polo, for 42 years until 2012. He was born June 25, 1928 in Quincy, Ill. son of the late Guy & Marie (Barr) Rushing.
Floyd enlisted in the Navy during World War II, was a truck driver for over 60 years driving for: Knaus Truck Lines, Consoiliated, & Hills Bothers. Worked for the railroad & a cab driver part-time. He owned the bar in Richmond at one time. He was a member of Mason Lodge #232 for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie (Hepworth) Rushing of Richmond; five daughters, Carolyn Phelps of Cape Girardeau & granddaughter Cristy Phelps; Connie Zwingle of Greenfield & grandchildren Phyllis Pemberton & Brian Rushing; Barbara Graham of Richmond & grandson Bryan Emerson; Vickie Gilmore of Everton & grandchildren Joshua, Dimmy Joe & Tara Gilmore; Bonnie Gilmore of Republic & grandchildren Christina, Jessica; & seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Williams of Independence & her son Jerry & two grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 with the funeral service starting at 3 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Richmond.
Family suggests memorial donations to be made to the Masonic Lodge #232.
