Both the Hardin-Central Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs entered this week’s Wellington-Napoleon Tournament on a positive note after taking a CLAA sweep at Norborne. The Dawgs and Lady Dawgs are now 5-2 in league competition following the two wins.

The Lady Bulldogs stopped Norborne 48-38 to hand the Lady Pirates their first loss of the season, and also avenged a 10-point loss to their long-time rivals in the Hardin-Central Tournament championship game in November.

Olivia Ellis led the Hardin-Central scoring with 14 points, while Cheyenne Baxter and Megan Mertensmeyer paced Norborne with 10 points each.

The Lady Dawgs managed just a field goal and a pair of free throws in the opening quarter as Norborne grabbed a 7-4 lead in a low-scoring beginning. The Hardin-Central offense picked up the pace in the second frame with a 13-9 scoring edge as five different Lady Bulldogs scored.
