Wallace “Gordon” Lewallen, 81, Richmond, passed away, Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at the KU Medical Center.
Mr. Lewallen was born April 17, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Sterling Elmer and Florence Vivian (Kinney) Lewallen.
Mr. Lewallen served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Gordon married Patricia Ann (Renfro) Lewallen May 9, 1958 in Claycomo, she survives of the home.
He worked for the Standard Paper Company in Kansas City, Mo., as a superintendent. He retired at age 55. Mr. Lewallen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Omaha, Ark.where he served as a Deacon. He was ordained as a Deacon March 20, 1994, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Omaha, Ark. and he was a member of the VFW in Richmond.
In addition to his wife, Patricia of Richmond, Gordon is survived by two daughters, Dianna Lynn Estes of Harrison, AR., and Deborah K. Anders of Lone Jack, Mo; one son, Gordon Dwane Lewallen of Richmond; two brothers, James Kinney Lewallen of Basehor. Ks., and Sterling Blaine Lewallen of Canyon City, TX; one sister, Janet Jeanine Cornell of Lee’s Summit, Mo; six grandchildren, Darren Wesley Estes, Ashley Dwane Lewallen, Tyler Lewis McDonald, Aaron Michael Lewallen, Whitney LeAnn McDonald and Marcus Lee Estes; one great-granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church of Omaha in Omaha, Ark., at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Omaha, Ark.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Omaha.
