It was a tough Tuesday night for the Richmond Spartan wrestlers in a triangular held at Smithville. The Spartans ran into two of the top Class 2 teams in the area with Harrisonville and Smithville.
Harrisonville defeated the Spartans 57-20, and the host Warriors rolled to a 72-9 victory. The Wildcats won the first six matches – three of those were contested. Harrisonville picked up forfeits at 106, 113 and 120 pounds after Joe Schlechter opened the night at 285 with a win by fall over Alex Hays in 12 seconds. Following the forfeits, Ty Cochran also won by fall in 31 seconds at 126 over Alex Watson, and Ben Spencer took a 7-6 decision at 132 over Dylan Pemberton.
Richmond got its first of four wins in the 138-pound match when Dylan Seely recorded a 22-7 technical fall victory over Michael Farnville at 4:38.
Harrisonville won the next two matches by falls with Kyle Hix defeating Brett Casey in 25 seconds at 145, followed by Anthony Franco stopping Anthony Bulk in 1:33 at 152 pounds.
