Last year, the Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs upset Norborne on the way to winning the Hardin-Central Tournament. This year, the Lady Pirates returned the favor by taking the title game 32-22 Friday night over the tournament hosts.
Cheyenne Baxter led the way for the unbeaten Lady Pirates by scoring a game-high 19 points in the mostly defensive battle. Hardin-Central, now 3-1, hit just seven of 67 shots for the night, and was 7 of 18 from the free throw line.
Each team opened with 7 points in the first period and 6 points apiece in the second frame to take a 13-13 deadlock into the intermission. Hardin-Central managed just one field goal in the third quarter as the Lady Pirates took a 20-15 advantage into the final 8 minutes, where they outscored the home team 12-7.
