A Ray County funeral home with operations in Richmond, Lawson and Excelsior Springs was suspended in 2011 and 2012 from selling preneed funeral arrangements for failing to renew a license.
The State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors suspended Polley Funeral Home LLC Nov. 1, 2011 and again Nov. 1, 2012 for not renewing its license and paying the required fee.
The Richmond News learned of the suspensions in an anonymous email, then confirmed them on the agency’s Web site, www.pr.mo.gov/embalmers-discipline, and with board spokesman Travis Ford.
According to the Missouri Department of Professional Registration, the agency that oversees the Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, the 2011 license was reinstated Jan. 26, 2012 when Polley paid the required $200 annual fee, plus a penalty.
As of Friday, Polley’s 2012 Preneed Seller license had yet to be renewed. Missing the renewal deadline means the license can be renewed, but with a penalty.
“The renewal fee is $200, and if they’re delinquent, the renewal late fee is an additional $200,” an employee with the licensing department said.
None of the other Ray County individuals or businesses licensed to perform funeral services is listed on the department’s list of suspensions from 2006 to the present.
