A 22-point second quarter provided Southwest enough space to pick up a 52-46 win Monday night over visiting Hardin-Central. Southwest rebounded from a loss to Polo last week to get back to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the CLAA.
It was the second straight setback for the Lady Bulldogs who fall to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Lady Dawgs held a 14-12 lead after the first 8 minutes, but Southwest broke loose for 22 points in the second frame to take a 34-25 cushion into the intermission.
Sydnee Rounkles led the charge for the Wildcats as she scored 8 of her game-high 24 points in the second quarter after opening the night with 8 points in the first quarter.
Southwest held a slight 10-8 advantage in the third quarter to build a big enough lead to hold off Hardin-Central’s 13-7 edge over the final 8 minutes.
