Katherine Marlene Roberts, age 79, of Gravois Mills, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. Mary’s Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born Nov. 22, 1933, a daughter of Virgil and Mildred Tabb Howell.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Shelton who preceded her in death in 1983. On April 6, 1985, in Richmond, she was united in marriage to Lee Roy Roberts who survives the home.
Marlene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Laurie. She enjoyed living at the lake. Water skiing was one of her favorite hobbies in her earlier years. She also enjoyed bowling and embroidering baby quilts.
In addition to her husband, Lee Roy, she is survived by her son, Eugene Shelton and fiancée Lorna Stamper of Richmond; daughter, Debra Gibson and husband Jason of Climax Springs; step-son, David Roberts and wife Bonnie of Kingston; step-daughters, Sandra Burns and husband Donald of Smithville, and Janet Roberts and fiancé Joe Hilden of Kansas City, Mo.; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Royetta Thompson and husband John Dee and Shirley Schooley and husband Kenneth both of Richmond; half brothers, Steve Howell of Cadd Mills, Texas and Rick Howell of McKinney, Texas; half sisters, Peggy Leonard of Rockport, Texas and Sandy Rockhold of Lexington; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Howell, her mother, Mildred Walker, her step-father, Roy Sloan, and an infant brother, Virgil Lee Howell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel with Pastor Marc Knapp officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the chapel.
