The Spartan wrestlers bounced back from a lopsided loss to Brookfield to defeat Southwest Livingston County in a triangular held Tuesday night at the Richmond Middle School.

The split gives Richmond a 1-4 mark in dual competition heading into this weekend’s Harrisonville Tournament.

The Spartans began the night facing a very solid Brookfield squad and the lone Richmond points came from two opens in a 61-12 loss. The Spartans then won five of the nine contested weight classes in taking a 48-18 win over Southwest.

Brookfield recorded five wins by falls in the first match. Blaine Sportsman defeated Anthony Holmes in 5:35 at 120; Garrett Zahner defeated Dylan Pemberton in 3:24 at 126; Gage Maxwell defeated Brett Casey in 3:52 at 138; Joseph Abonga defeated Seth Gant in 1:06 at 170; Trevor Allard defeated Nathan Hosman in 1:34 at 220; and Dexter Carmichael defeated Alex Hays in 5:35 at 285.
