The Richmond Lady Spartans could not get the offense going Friday night in their first game of the NCMC Holiday Hoops held at the Ketchum Community Center in Trenton. Richmond dropped to 2-8 following its 47-23 loss to the Chillicothe Lady Hornets.

The Lady Hornets improved to 5-3 and had three players reach double figures in scoring – led by Maggie Graves with a game-high 16. Erin Gilliland followed with 13 points and Maddy Williams chipped in 11 points.

Elizabeth Windsor came off the bench for Richmond to score 6 points. Windsor tied Miya O’Dell for team scoring honors, followed by Madison Cole with 4 points. Cassidy Layman added 3 fourth-quarter points, followed by Mallory Cole and Sara Davis with 2 points apiece.

Chillicothe visited the free throw line 14 times for the night, while converting 6 of them. Richmond hit 3 of 5 attempts from the stripe.

O’Dell got the scoring started for Richmond as she hit a basket with 5:47 remaining in the opening frame, but then the Lady Spartan offense struggled with turnovers and Chillicothe took advantage as the Lady Hornets went on a 15-2 run.
