Bonnie Lewis, 70, of Lawson, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Dec. 20, 2012 at Liberty Hospital.
Bonnie was born Oct. 9, 1942 in Lawson, to Ray and Betty (Cooper) Cheek. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Ron Lewis, March 11, 1962, and they had just celebrated 50 years. Bonnie was a 1960 graduate of Lawson High School and business school in St. Joseph. After her marriage, she was a busy homemaker caring for her children and supporting them with their many activities. She was a member of Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher when her children were young. Later she was a food service worker for the Lawson School District and William Jewell College where she retired.
She was preceded in death by her father and baby sister, Barbara Belle.
She is survived by her husband of the home and mother of Excelsior Springs; the loves of her life, her children, Jeff (Lisa) Lewis; Kevin (Grenda) Lewis and Sabrina (Tom) Hunter all of Lawson; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Thomas and Elaine Vassmer of Excelsior Springs, her mother-in-law, Carlene Lewis, aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Polley Funeral Home, Lawson, Saturday, Dec. 22. A service to celebrate her life was held Sunday, Dec. 23 at the church, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dan Clark officiating.
Memorials are to be given to the church.
