Norman Eugene Smithey, 83, of Camden, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Norman was born Nov. 23, 1929 in Camden to Vernon F. and Cornelia (Crowley) Smithey. He married Margaret Louise Trindle of Richmond Nov. 27, 1949; she survives of the home.
Norman was a 1947 graduate from Camden High School. Norman was a member of the United Brotherhood of Union Carpenters Local #315 for over 40 years. He was also a farmer. Norman was a lifelong resident of Camden and a member of the Camden United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong Camden residence. Norman was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the Ray Lodge #223 A.F. & A.M. He was a past President of the Richmond Shrine Club and a member of the Ararat Temple.
In addition to his parents, Norman was preceded in death by one son, Tim L. Smithey; and one grandson, Wesley Smithey.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Camden Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 30 from 1 to 2 p.m. with masonic services at 1:45 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery in Camden with military honors provided by the Ray County Veterans. Online condolences maybe left to the family on our Web site at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
