4-H Club distributes awards to youth members, volunteers

Ray County 4-H recognized 219 youth and 107 volunteer leaders for their year achievements at the Annual 4-H Recognition & Awards Banquet last month at the Eagleton Civic Center. Ray County Farm Bureau and Richmond Rotary Club were the sponsors of the 4-H member and leader pins and other awards.
A 4-H program highlight is recognizing the Ray County 4-H Ambassadors for 2013, along with other 4-H award winners for their accomplishmnets. The 2012 4-H Ambassadors – Kaitlyn Zimmerman of Clever Clovers 4-H, Grant Wheeler of Central 4-H, Geena Black of Olde Tyme 4-H and Zach Stewart of Clever Clovers 4-H assisted in presenting the awards.
2013 Senior 4-H Ambassadors – Honoree Lauren Twyman of Orrick 4-H said that “4-H means learning and trying new things, along with meeting and making lifetime friends”.  Lauren has been in 4-H for eight years and her emphasis is horsemanship, foods and cake decorating. Her parents are Mike and Tracie Twyman of Orrick.
Honoree Spencer Wheeler of Central 4-H said that “4-H means helping out in the community and having fun”.   He’s a nine-year 4-H member and his emphasis is swine, gardening and foods. His parents are Kent & Stephanie Wheeler of Hardin.
Senior Ambassador Alternates are Carson Luther of Lawson 4-H and Colby Anderson of Olde Tyme 4-H.
2013 Junior Ambassadors – Emily Martens of Dale-Patton 4-H said that 4-H teaches life skills along with family values.  She is a four-year member and her main projects are clothing, crafts and woodworking. Her parents are Robert Martens of Richmond and Stephanie Martens of Kansas City.
Cody Hoskins of Orrick 4-H said that “4-H means people working together to help their community and having fun”. He has been in 4-H for four years and his main projects are beef, shooting sports and welding. His parents are Mike and Shelly Hoskins of Rayville.
Junior Ambassador Alternates are Allie Renfro of Millville 4-H and Shane Leakey of Millville 4-H.
2012 Friends of 4-H: Ray County 4-H presents this award to individuals or businesses that have given of their time to the 4-H program in an extensive manner. The 2012 recipient is Janet Aldrich of Elkhorn.
The I Dare You Award was presented to Lauren Twyman of Orrick 4-H.
Top County Project Awards – Zach Stewart, Jacob Steele and Ashley Stewart, all of Clever Clovers 4-H, received the 4-H Project Awards.
Outstanding Member Awards for 8-13-year-olds were awarded to Blake Logsdon of Guys & Gals 4-H Club, Emily Martens of Dale-Patton 4-H Club, Zach Stewart of Clever Clovers 4-H Club, Emily Henderson of Orrick 4-H and Geena Black of Olde Tyme 4-H.
Food Award – The Food Awards are presented to two individuals that are enrolled in foods and show continued growth in the foods project along with leadership development.  The Senior Award goes to Lauren Twyman of Orrick 4-H and the Junior Award goes to Geena Black of Olde Tyme 4-H.
Clover Kids Awards for 5-7-year-olds went to Aspen Erskine and Trent Logsdon of Guys & Gals 4-H Club.
Club Officer Awards – Outstanding club officer books were presented to: Secretary, Kaitlyn Zimmerman of Clever Clovers 4-H Club; Treasurer, Carson Luther of Lawson  4-H Club; Reporter, Emily Martens of Dale-Patton 4-H Club and Historian, Grace Black of Olde Tyme 4-H Club.
Kansas City Global Summit – Grace Black of Olde Tyme 4-H received a partial scholarship to the summit in March of 2013.
State Horse Judging – The Ray County Senior Horse Judging Team placed 6th at State.  Members of the team were: Whitney Kincaid, Aaron Shank, Justin Persell, Philip Kincaid, Shawn Marrant & Carolyn Parsons of Guys & Gals 4-H.
Whitney Kincaid was 5th high senior individual.
The Junior Horse Judging Team placed 8th and team members were: Vivian Kincaid  and Kalynn Persell of Guys & Gals 4-H Club and Emily Henderson of Orrick 4-H Club.  Vivian Kincaid was 6th high individual in the Junior Division.
State Horse Hippology Awards – The Junior Hippology Team placed 3rd at the state contest.  Members were Emily Henderson of Orrick 4-H, Shayna Polly and Hannah Winters of Olde Tyme 4-H and Sadie VanHooser of Lawson 4-H.
Senior Hippology Team placed 7th at state.  Team members were McKenzie Hayson of Lawson 4-H, Jayla Jones and Madalyn Mussey of Olde Tyme 4-H and Kaitlyn Zimmerman of Clever Clovers 4-H.
State Horse Bowl – The Ray County Junior Horse Bowl Team placed 5th at state. Team members were Emily Henderson of Orrick 4-H, Cote Polly, Shayna Polly and Hannah Winters of Olde Tyme 4-H.  Emily Henderson was 7th high individual in the junior division overall.
4-H Move Across Missouri Awards – Carissa Davis of Clever Clovers 4-H, Rhonda Luther of Lawson 4-H, Piper Killingsworth and Amy Schnetzler of Olde Tyme 4-H and Jodi Stewart of Clever Clovers 4-H.  The top participation award went to Rhonda Luther of Lawson 4-H.
State Fashion Revue Awards were awarded for Clothes You Make: Senior Division, Carson Luther of Lawson 4-H Club and Junior Division, Abbie Perry of Olde Tyme 4-H Club. Carson received the first place Senior Wool Award. He will represent Missouri at the “Make-It-With Wool” National Contest in San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 23-26, 2013.
State Shooting Sports Honors: Ray County 4-H members that placed in the top 20 at the State Shooting Sports Contest were Corey Dempsey of Clever Clovers 4-H in Senior Trap, Carlos Lopez, Jr. of Olde Tyme 4-H in Junior .22 Rifle, Justin Jones of Olde Tyme 4-H Club in Senior .22 Pistol and .22 Rifle and Anna Sage in Senior .22 Rifle.
Missouri State Fair Demonstration Awards went to Zach Stewart and Ashley Stewart of Clever Clovers 4-H Club.
Club Seals were awarded to the top 4-H clubs in Ray County Gold Seal: Clever Clovers, Dale-Patton, Guys & Gals, Millville, Orrick and Olde Tyme and Silver Seals to Central and Lawson.
