Even though the Richmond Spartans finished third in the MRVC East, they still gained their fair share of all-conference honors in voting conducted by the league’s football coaches.
The Spartans, who ended with a 3-2 league mark and 5-5 overall showing, placed two members on first-team defense and two more on first-team offense. Richmond also had three Spartans selected second-team defense and two second-team offense, with four more honorable mentions.
League champion Higginsville had six first-team defensive selections and seven more first-team offensive players named – five of those were unanimous selections.
Richmond had three unanimous picks with Derek Rickart on the defensive line, along with Brock Bowers on offensive line and Lendarrius Pritchett at wide receiver.
Other Spartans honored were Tevin Robinson at first-team linebacker. Robinson missed most of the year due to injury, but conference rules state a player who misses the conference season with an injury retains the spot he earned last season.
Two other Richmond linebackers, Caleb Scarborough and Matt Stafford, were named second-team defense with Pritchett selected second-team defensive back. Brock Stokes, a defensive back, and Canaan Adams, a defensive lineman, were honorable mention.
Quinton Maxwell was named second-team quarterback for the Spartans. Rickart was selected second-team offensive lineman. Spartan running backs Jimmy Hamm and Stokes were named honorable mention.
