Mark W. Lamar, Sr., 64, of Richmond, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at his home.
Mark was born on Jan. 25, 1948 in Kansas City, Mo. to Richard and Katharine (Canfield) Lamar.
Mark was a repairman for Ford Motor Company before retiring. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Ministry Church in Richmond. He also was a member of the U.A.W. local Union #249 in Kansas City and the National Rifle Association. Mark was an avid deer and mushroom hunter. He was a loving father, brother, papa and friend.
Survivors include one son, Mark Lamar, Jr., of Excelsior Springs; one daughter, Rebekah Lamar of Pleasant Hill; six brothers and their spouses, Richard “Dick” and Leoma Lamar of Las Vegas, John Lamar of Sedalia, Buster and Donna Lamar of Richmond, Luke Lamar of Excelsior Springs, Jim and Nancy of Lamar of Richmond and Roy Lamar of Excelsior Springs; one sister, Donna Lamar Coleman of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nicholas, Jayden and Prestley Lamar, Dustin Johnson, Timothy and Trevor Lawson; one great-granddaughter, Adrianna Abbott; one step-daughter, Michele and Tim Lawson of Richmond; and his best-friend, Steve and Carolyn Barrett of Richmond.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mark W. Lamar, Sr., memorial fund.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 18, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., also at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date.
