The Lady Spartan golf team tuned up for today’s Class 1, District 7 tournament by taking a 30-stroke victory from the Lady Tigers at the Excelsior Springs Golf Course. Richmond wrapped up the dual competition with an 8-2 record by defeating the home team 203-233.
The Richmond junior varsity also held its last outing of the season by shooting a 177.
Richmond Coach Murray Dennis was proud of the way his teams closed out the regular season.
“I am proud of the girls for how hard they have worked this season and am impressed with the progress we have made,” he said. “We are so young, it was hard to predict what kind of season we would have, but after it’s all said and done, the girls did a great job in the regular season.”
Richmond’s Breann Mathis was the medalist for the afternoon with a 49 on the par-36 course, which was two shots ahead of her teammates Zoe Harper and Makenzi Turley who each carded a 51. Maddy Zeller ended the day with 52, and Becca Westbrook was just one shot off of that total.
