James M. Blair, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Oct. 7, 2012 at Jefferson Place in Louisville, Ky.
James was born on Aug. 10, 1919, in Richmond, to Robert and Margaret Blair. He was the youngest of seven children and was one of the first Eagle Scouts in the Richmond area. He served in WWII as an Army sergeant and graduated from the University of Central Missouri. After 30 years as National Credit Manager for the Cudahy Packing Company, James retired in Phoenix, Ariz.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Judith Scott Blair; Children – James R. Blair (Sherril) of Germantown, Tenn.; Jane Shepherd-Hall (Gordon Hall) of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren – Barbara Blair (Jeff Bieske) of Springdale, Ark.; James Shepherd and Timothy Hall of Phoenix , Ariz.; Step Children – Dick Scott (Joyce) of Midland, Mich.; Sherry Scott (Dick Koehn) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Patti Scott Rowland( Bob) of Danville, Ky.; eight step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Virginia Bauer Blair.
Visitation starting at 11 a.m. with the memorial service at 1 p.m. at Christ Church United Methodist 4614 Brownsboro Rd. Louisville, Ky. Nov. 2, where James has been a member since 1995. Burial will be in Highland, Kan. at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3416 Woolworth Ave., Omaha, NE. 68015; Christ Church United Methodist; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of the giver’s choice.
