RMS football team goes undefeated,
outscoring opponents 266-38
The Richmond Middle School Spartans closed out their 2012 football season in the manner in which they compiled a 6-0 record – with a lopsided victory. The young Spartans posted their second shutout of the season with a 42-0 decision over visiting Holden at Woodson Field.
Not only did the Spartans go unbeaten, they outscored their opponents 266-38.
The season finale began the way most of the previous five games began as Richmond jumped on top early. Morgan Hutchings took the handoff on the second play of the game and raced 69 yards to the end zone for the first his two visits to the end zone. Seth Hicks found Austin Keefhaver for the conversion pass and an 8-0 lead just 25 seconds into the game.
The Spartans would score on three of their next four possessions. Makhi White, who rushed for 49 yards on five carries, raced 16 yards for the next RMS score, followed by another two-point conversion with Nelson Young catching Hicks’ pass for a 16-0 lead.
