Robert Sterling Hardwick, 79, Parkville, passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was born Aug. 14, 1933 in Hardin, to Howard R. and Daisy Roberta (Smith) Hardwick. He graduated from Richmond High School, Richmond.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a hard worker and retired from General Motors following 54 years of service. Robert was a Christian and attended the Northland Cathedral in Kansas City, Mo. In his spare time he enjoyed being with family and playing poker with friends.
He married Meredith Dawn Sorensen on Jan. 20, 1968 in Gladstone. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children, Glenda, Troy, Terry, Denise and seven grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a step-mother, Hazel Hardwick; and siblings, Margarite, Donald, Thomas, Howard, Jr. and William.
A funeral service celebrating Robert’s life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. following the service at the funeral home. A graveside service and burial will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Richmond Memory Gardens in Richmond, with military honors under the auspices of the Ray County Veterans.
