Richard Lee Watson

Richard Lee Watson, 46, Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Richmond, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

Richard was born on Nov. 23, 1965 in Sedalia, to Billy L. and Evelyn (Reckard) Watson. He married Diana Gail Johnson of Richmond, on July 5, 1991. She survives of the home.

Richard was a machinist for seventeen years, working for Ultra-Tech, Inc. in Kansas City for the past five years. He was of the Christian faith. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He had lived in Richmond, before moving to Kansas City two weeks ago. Richard was proud to be a tissue donor.

Additional survivors include; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Travis L. and Desiree Guthrie of Richmond,  Richard Alexander “Alex” Watson of the home, his father and mother, Billy and Evelyn Watson of Sedalia, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Marty G. and Luella Watson Keith A. Watson, Roger W. and Kerri Watson all of Lincoln, Neb., two grandchildren Adara Lynn Guthrie, Tristen Marie Guthrie, and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by one son, Christopher N. Guthrie.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the family’s choice.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, from noon to 2 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date. Military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.

    Gail and Travis words cannot express how sorry I am that you had to go through this sorrow. You are both in my heart and thoughts every day. Please know that I am here for you both if you need anything. Stay strong together and keep those memories alive for Rich is with you in spirit and he fills your heart with such love. I love you both.
