Ruth W. Sneed
Ruth W. Sneed, 81, of Richmond, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Ruth was born on July 23, 1931 in Oakland, to Robert and Dorothy (Speaker) Wilson. She married Lloyd L. Sneed of Lebanon, on June 2, 1951; he preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1971.
Ruth was a psychologist for the Marshall Habilitations Center for 17 years starting in 1983. She was co-Owner and operator of the Sneed Brothers Inc., from 1971 to 1983. She was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church and its Social Concerns Circle. She was also a member of the Richmond Garden Club. Ruth received her master’s degree in psychology from U.M. K.C. and also received her associate’s degree from Drury College. Ruth taught grades first through eighth for two years in a one room school in southern Missouri.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Janet Sneed of Richmond and Daniel and Cheryl Sneed of Edinburgh, Ill.; one brother, Ed Wilson of Springfield; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brad Sneed, Matt and Alyson Burkeybile, Drew and Tiffany Burkeybile, Mike Sneed and Teresa Sneed; and three great-grandchildren, Weston Burkeybile, Anthony Sneed and Celeste Sneed.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Lambeth.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Richmond United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will Saturday, Sept. 1, from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
