Richmond Economic Development, Inc. presents an evening of wine, art and comedy Saturday, June 23, at the Farris Theatre and adjacent art gallery, Friends Gallery.
The fundraiser event, “Corks, Canvas and Comedy,” begins at 6:30 p.m. with wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres with Van Till Family Farm and Winery in the new Friends Gallery. Participants can peruse artwork while mingling, and also get a back-stage tour of the Farris.
Three national comedians – Eric Hunter, Johnny Kavanaugh and Chris Smith – will perform beginning at 8:30 p.m. in the theater. Smith, touted as the “ultimate road comic,” has performed in every state in the continental U.S. and Canada. Smith’s bio says his range – from black-tie dinners to biker bars – has earned him respect for his ability to do quality shows for any situation and any type of audience. Kavanaugh boasts his Irish charm and performing in top clubs in the country, including Funny Bones, Punchline and Déjà Vu in Columbia. A semi-finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” in 2008, Hunter performs in a wide variety of venues, such as comedy clubs, colleges, cruises, country clubs and casinos, saying he does a bright, funny and clean act.
During the show, microbrews and pizza from Hometown Pizza will be available at the concession stand along with other snacks and beverages.
Tickets are $25 each and are available at the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce, 104 W. North Main, at the door. Participants must be 21 to attend the event.
