  • From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., auditions for Aladdin Jr. will be held at the Farris Theatre for 5th through 8th grades completed this spring. Please have a song prepared and expect to read from a script.

  • From 9 a.m. to noon, join the 3rd Annual ShredFest at the Community Bank of Missouri. Bring any unwanted or confidential documents to be securely shredded before your eyes. Also collecting unwanted media such as PC’s, compact disks, radios and small appliances for recycling. Please call (816) 776-6669 for any questions. This event is free to the public.
  • The Lake City 25-Year Club will hold its annual dinner meeting at the Blue Springs Elks Lodge, 100 Brizendine Road, Blue Springs. If you or anyone you know would like to attend, please contact Kathy Philpott, 816-356-7973.
  • From 5 to 8 p.m., Excelsior Springs USSSA Youth Association spaghetti dinner, silent auction at the Eagles Lodge.  Donations accepted.
  • At 6:30 p.m., the Country Hoedown will be held at the Legion Hall in Holt. Come play, sing or listen. Bring snacks to share. Coffee, soft drinks and tea are provided. Donations benefit the Legion to aid in community projects. For more information, call 816-637-2053.

MONDAY, APRIL 16

  • Beginning at 5:15 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.
  • From 6:30-7:30 p.m., T.O.P.S. meets every Monday at United Christian Presbyterian Church at 501 N. Spartan.

TUESDAY, APRIL 17

  • From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.,  Richmond Head Start Center will hold a sign-up day at 42455 Bus. Hwy. 10, Richmond.  To complete an application you must bring the following: proof of income for child’s legal parents/guardians living in the home and legal proof of child’s birthdate.  This is for ages 3 to 5, and for the 2012-2013 school year.  For  questions contact 776-5577.
  • From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., The Excelsior Springs Museum and Archives will be hosting an in-house exhibt entiled “The Story of Aprons”.  It will open Tuesday, April 17 and run to Friday, May 25, 2012.  The museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  There is a $2 admission fee for non members.  Special Children’s activities will be Saturday, Arpil 21, and May 12, from 1-3 p.m.   We are asking those attending to bring a copy of their favorite recipe to be included in the Museum’s local cookbook.
  • From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., a free Empower Kidney Disease Class will be offered at North Kansas City Hospital. Classes will teach participants how to take control of kidney disease and make healthy choices. For more information or to register for classes, call 816-842-0076.

Meeting times for Richmond AA and Al-Anon are:  Mondays noon and 8 p.m., Tuesdays noon and 8 p.m., Wednesdays at noon, Thursdays at noon, Fridays noon and 8 p.m. (open meetings), Saturdays noon and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. Open meetings include the first and third Fridays and a 6 p.m. Sunday Big Book Study. Al-Anon meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both groups meet at 304 W. Franklin, Richmond.
