MONDAY, APRIL 30

Beginning at 5:15 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.

 

From 6:30-7:30 p.m., T.O.P.S. meets every Monday at United Christian Presbyterian Church at 501 N. Spartan.

 

TUESDAY, MAY 1

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  The City of Richmond will have all fire hydrants flushed out and you may notice some discoloration.

 

At 7 p.m., the Ray County Community Arts group will hold its monthly board meeting at the Eagleton Center in Richmond.  The meeting is open to the public. Anyone interested in contributing  ideas for events to bring to the community or to be involved in the RCCA is welcome to join at any time. WEDNESDAY, MAY 2

Beginning with a social at 1 p.m., the Chapter CO of P.E.O. will meet.  Hostess is Camille Hamilton and co-hostess is Linda Waters. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.

 

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tri-County Mental Health Services Family Support Group will meet in the day program area of Tri-County’s offices at the Northland Human Services Center, 3100 NE 83rd St., Kansas City North. Discussion includes ideas for supporting a friend, family member or loved one with mental illness, along with sharing and support from others with similar experiences. Refreshments will be served. THURSDAY, MAY 3

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Ray County Memorial Ladies Auxillery will host a $6 Jewelry Fair in the hospital commons.

FRIDAY, MAY 4

SATURDAY, MAY 5 

From 6 to 11 a.m., the Richmond VFW Post 4398 will host a pancake and sausage breakfast at the Ray County Veterans Building.  Cost is $5 for ages 8 and up, 7 and under are free, this is an all-you-can-eat event.  Proceeds go towards supporting the veterans and the community.

 

SUNDAY, MAY 6

From noon to 3 p.m., 1135th Engineer Company (Route Clearance) will host a equipment display and meet the troops event at the Richmond Armory, 860 E. Lexington St., Richmond.  There will be a  display of equipment, concession, and activities for the children. Contact SFC William Gifford 816-776-3300.

 

At 3 p.m., New Hope Primitive Baptist Church & Cemetery will hold its annual meeting. Any one interested in the preservation of this cemetery, family or friends, are welcome to attend.  For more information, call Janis Lanning 816-470-8290.

 

At 5 p.m., The Riffe Cemetery Association in Orrick will hold its annual meeting at the Riffe Cemetery. All those interested in the cemetery are encouraged to attend. If inclimate weather, the meeting will be moved to the Orrick United Methodist Church.

 

At 5 p.m., The Lexington Wind Symphony will be performing it’s debut concert at the Lexington High School Cafetorium, 2309 Aull Lane, Lexington, Mo. This will be our Spring Concert and it is completely free and open to the public.

From 5:30 to 7:30  p.m., there will be a business after-hours at the 19th Hole, this will be hosted by Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

 

SATURDAY, MAY 12

At 6:30 p.m., the Country Hoedown will be held at the Legion Hall in Holt. Come play, sing or listen. Bring snacks to share. Coffee, soft drinks and tea are provided. Donations benefit the Legion to aid in community projects. For more information, call 816-637-2053.

TUESDAY, MAY 29

At 6:30 p.m., The Fourth Tuesday Grief Support Group May meeting will be held, the fifth Tuesday of May,  for the month of May only. At this meeting we will have our annual balloon release in memory of loved ones who have died.  Bring a note or poem to insert in the balloons you release if you wish. This support group is open to anyone dealing with grief and loss issues and meets at The United Christian Presbyterian Church, 501 North Spartan Drive, Richmond.  For more information or if you are unable to attend the May Balloon Release and wish to request a balloon be released in a loved one’s memory, call Mary Alice Blakeman at 816-517-9343 or D. Meeting times for Richmond AA and Al-Anon are:  Mondays noon and 8 p.m., Tuesdays noon and 8 p.m., Wednesdays at noon, Thursdays at noon, Fridays noon and 8 p.m. (open meetings), Saturdays noon and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. Open meetings include the first and third Fridays and a 6 p.m. Sunday Big Book Study. Al-Anon meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both groups meet at 304 W. Franklin, Richmond.
