SATURDAY, APRIL 28

All day, the public is invited to join the Gabriella’s Garden Board for a work day at Gabriella’s Garden on the east side of the square in downtown Richmond. With the continuing improvements to the garden, we are ready to work on the flower beds and clean up the area.  Bring your tools such as shovels, rakes, gloves, a weed eater and round up with sprayer.  For more information call Royce Duffett at 816-776-3643.

 

Beginning at 9 a.m., interested individuals or organizations meet at Richmond City Hall for assignments for a Richmond citywide clean to spruce the town up before the 32nd Annual Richmond Mushroom Festival. All are welcome. For more information, call 816-776-6916.

 

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., “Drive One 4 Ur School” event at Richmond High School School. Test drive a new Ford from Swafford’s Ford and RHS receives $20 from each test drive for the Spartan Marquee Sign Project. Ford will donate up to $6,000 to RHS based on the number of participants. Free food and drink for each participants by the All-Sports Club. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a $200 Apple Market gift certificate. SUNDAY, APRIL 29

From 11:30 to 1 p.m., Shirkey Nursing and Rehab Center  “Wii Cares: Relay for Life Team will host a spaghetti dinner at the United Christian Presbyterian Church, 501 N. Spartan Drive, Richmond.  Free will donation.  For more info call 816-456-1425 or 816-516-8826.  All proceeds go towards the Ray County Relay for Life.

 

MONDAY, APRIL 30

Beginning at 5:15 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.

 

From 6:30-7:30 p.m., T.O.P.S. meets every Monday at United Christian Presbyterian Church at 501 N. Spartan.

 

TUESDAY, MAY 1

At 7 p.m., Bunco party sponsored by the Beta Sigma Phi – RSI will be held at Orrick Community Center.  $10 donation to play.

 

At 7 p.m., the Ray County Community Arts group will hold its monthly board meeting at the Eagleton Center in Richmond.  The meeting is open to the public. Anyone interested in contributing  ideas for events to bring to the community or to be involved in the RCCA is welcome to join at any time. WEDNESDAY, MAY 2

Beginning with a social at 1 p.m., the Chapter CO of P.E.O. will meet.  Hostess is Camille Hamilton and co-hostess is Linda Waters. The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.

 

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tri-County Mental Health Services Family Support Group will meet in the day program area of Tri-County’s offices at the Northland Human Services Center, 3100 NE 83rd St., Kansas City North. Discussion includes ideas for supporting a friend, family member or loved one with mental illness, along with sharing and support from others with similar experiences. Refreshments will be served. At 3 p.m., New Hope Primitive Baptist Church & Cemetery will hold its annual meeting. Any one interested in the preservation of this cemetery, family or friends, are welcome to attend.  For more information, call Janis Lanning @816-470-8290.

 

At 5 p.m., The Riffe Cemetery Association in Orrick will hold its annual meeting at the Riffe Cemetery. All those interested in the cemetery are encouraged to attend. If inclimate weather, the meeting will be moved to the Orrick United Methodist Church.

From 5:30 to 7:30  p.m., there will be a business after-hours at the 19th Hole, this will be hosted by Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

At 6:30 p.m., the Country Hoedown will be held at the Legion Hall in Holt. Come play, sing or listen. Bring snacks to share. Coffee, soft drinks and tea are provided. Donations benefit the Legion to aid in community projects. For more information, call 816-637-2053.

Meeting times for Richmond AA and Al-Anon are:  Mondays noon and 8 p.m., Tuesdays noon and 8 p.m., Wednesdays at noon, Thursdays at noon, Fridays noon and 8 p.m. (open meetings), Saturdays noon and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m. Open meetings include the first and third Fridays and a 6 p.m. Sunday Big Book Study. Al-Anon meets at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Both groups meet at 304 W. Franklin, Richmond.
