Each spring, the Ray-Carroll Grain Growers Scholarship fund awards grants to outstanding high school seniors who are the children of cooperative members. This year, Ray-Carroll awarded 15 $1,000 scholarships to area seniors, including three from Ray County.
Local recipients are Grant Wheeler and Joseph Gorham of Hardin-Central High School and home-schooled senior Whitney Kincaid. Gorham, the son of Shannon and James Wollard of Hardin and Rodney Gorham of Polo, plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University and pursue a degree in education. Wheeler, the son of Kent and Stephanie Wheeler of Hardin, is also bound for Northwest and will study agribusiness. Kincaid, the daughter of David and Amy Kincaid of Richmond, plans to attend Missouri State University to study animal science with minors in agribusiness and equine science.
