Ray County F.C.E. Early Birds met March 20 at Hometown Pizza banquet room with Kay Sharp acing as hostess.
President Martha Balman called the meeting to order with 14 members answering roll call on “what green plants have appeared in your yard.” Thought for the day was given by Whitney Martens. Program was presented by Wilma Carter. She introduced Terrie Stanley who gave a program on senior stretching exercises. A thank you card was received from the Ray Country Library for our donation. The club gave a donation to Ray County Coalition for a Teen Dance during the Mushroom Festival. Nellie Ogan gave a report on the March 24 Excelsior Springs dinner theater where members and guest will be attend.
Members will go to Jefferson City March 28 for Child Advocacy Day, taking the dolls made and keeping children foremost in their minds when making new dolls.
March 31, members will meet at the home of Mary Martens to test six recipes from Today’s Farmers magazine. Any money made will be donated back to the Missouri F.C.E.
The Citizen Essay Contest winners in February are 1st – Matthew Danner, 2nd – Abby Vandiver, 3rd – Colby Atigall. Donations were received from members for the Backpack program. Shirley Gifford, international chairman, presented each member with impressive mock “Official Passports,” and presented more history on various parts of Egypt. Meeting was adjourned with announcement of next meeting on April 17.
