Two things will be accomplished if parents of a group of Webelo scouts succeed this week in their fundraising project. The central goal is to make sure every boy in the 2nd Year Webelos Den has the opportunity to attend summer camp at Bartle Scout Reservation.
The camp costs $315, and Den Leader Anita Stigall said Bartle marks the fifth-graders’ transition into the Boy Scouts. That happens in April.
Stigall said the plan is to raise enough money so every den member has the chance to experience the traditions of Bartle for the first time.
A successful fundraiser would also mean that area residents get to experience the favorite recipes of their friends and neighbors. Stigall said the den is working on a community cookbook.
“Our goal is to collect at least 250 recipes for this book,” she said. “We hope to have these books ready to sell by March. They will be published by a company specializing in custom cookbooks.”
Stigall said the community is encouraged to submit recipes for publication. They can be mailed to Anita Stigall, 44081 E. 112th St., Richmond 64085, or e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. They can also be given to any of the parents or boys in our group.
Stigall said she would like to have all recipes contributed this week.
