Faith Lutheran Church, 805 E. Lexington St.in Richmond, will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a Thanksgiving and Praise service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. Former pastor Rev. Dr. Mark Nuckols will be the guest speaker and Rev. Jeremiah Johnson officiating the service.
Faith Lutheran Church was chartered in February 1972 from the preaching station, a former donut shop on the corner of Main and Institute streets.
In 1975, Faith Lutheran purchased ground for a new building and a ground-breaking ceremony was held Feb. 15, 1976. The building was first used for worship in the basement on Reformation Day 1976. Regular Sunday services have been held in this building since that day.
Faith Lutheran Church is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod which maintains mission stations, educational institutions and welfare agencies all over the world and sponsors the Lutheran Hour on the radio.
The church community is thankful for its blessings as it celebrates its 40th year.
