  • Beginning at 5:15 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.

  • Beginning at 7:30 p.m., Ray County Community Arts Association presents the musical Scrooge at the Farris Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (65 and older) and students. Saturday performance is at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Farris box office at 816-776-6684.


  • From 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Breakfast with Santa at Richmond Middle School.  Pancakes and sausage, $5 adults, $4 kids (12 and under), 4×6 photo with Santa $5, silent auction, specialty booths.  Sponsored by RHS Class of 2013 Booster Club and Richmond PTO.
  • From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Ray Lodge #223 will host an all-you-can eat chili and soup day at the Masonic Hall, Camden. Cost is $5 adults, $3 children.
  • Beginning at 12 p.m., Chapter CO of P.E.O. will have their Christmas luncheon  at Maria’s Cafe in Lexington.
  • From 1 to 3 p.m., Ray County Humane Society Annual Pet Pictures with Santa at the Ray County Animal Shelter.  Pictures will be ready in time for Christmas.  Call 776-8576 with questions.
  • From 1 to 8 p.m., Hardin Community Betterment Association presents a holiday homes tour as part of its Hometown Christmas 2011. Tickets can be purchased at Hardin City Hall. The event also includes residential outdoor lighting contest, holiday tree and wreath raffles, wagon rides and caroling. A chili and hot dog supper will be at 4 p.m. at City Hall with Santa Claus making a visit to children from 6 to 7 p.m.
  • From 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., A Victorian Open House at the Anderson House, Lexington.  Come view the holiday decor.


  • From 12 to 3 p.m., “A Country Christmas” at the Orrick Community Center, Alicia’s House, and Antiques and More all along Main St., Orrick.

  • Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Paradise Playhouse Dinner Theatre and Events Center is making plans for an open mic night for comedians. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the contest begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.  To enter the contest, phone the box office at 816-630-3333.
  • At 7 p.m., the Ray County Community Arts group will hold its monthly board meeting at the Eagleton Center in Richmond.  The meeting is open to the public.   • From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tri-County Mental Health Services Family Support Group will meet in the day program area of Tri-County’s offices at the Northland Human Services Center, 3100 NE 83rd St., Kansas City North. Discussion includes ideas for supporting a friend, family member or loved one with mental illness, along with sharing and support from others with similar experiences. Refreshments will be served.
