MONDAY, OCTOBER 31

  • From 5  to 8 p.m., Richmond’s 2011 Trick or Treat Street will be held at the City Hall gymnasium. The event is hosted by the Richmond  Police Department along with Richmond Kiwanis.
  • Beginning at 5:15 p.m. with weigh-in, Weight Watchers will meet at the Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St., Richmond.
  • At 7 p.m., “Living With Cancer” – for survivors of cancer or people with cancer.  Free, no cost. Lead by Licensed Clinical Social Worker Harley Hawkins, with guest speakers. 720 Highway 24 in Wellington,  at the Community Christian Center.  www.cccforyou.org.  (816)-277-9840.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1

  • At 7 p.m., the Ray County Community Arts group will hold its monthly board meeting at the Eagleton Center in Richmond.  The meeting is open to the public.   • Beginning with a social at 1 p.m., Chapter CO of  P.E.O. will meet on at the home of Patti Bamman with Jo Cole as the co-hostess. The social time begins at 1 p.m. with the business meeting to follow at 1:30.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 3

  • From 7 to 9 p.m., GriefShare recovery and seminar support group for people grieving the deaths of loved ones will meet at the Old Union Christian Union Church, 17990 N. Union Rd., Lawson. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief and recovery topics. For more information, call Nada Austin at 816-296-3854.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4

  • Beginning at 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Lawson Assembly of God Women’s Ministry is hosting its 21st Annual Craft Show.  The show will contain 50 booths located in the gymnasium and the church.  Lawson Assembly of God is located at 527 W 6th Street (D Hwy) in Lawson,  breakfast and lunch will be served and concessions available.  Admission is free.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5

They will be singing those songs that touch your heart, have you tapping your toes, and reminding you what a great country we live in. And, of the freedoms our soldiers fought so gallantly for. Don’t miss this opportunity to say thanks!

  • From 7 to 10 a.m., American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a free biscuits-and-gravy breakfast for all veterans and their spouses at the Veterans Building.

 

  • From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Salvation Army will host a Musical Christmas Open House and Fundraiser with bake sale and craft items at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 306 West Main Street.  Live music box collections, snowmen scenes, quilts, Santas around the world, table settings and nativities.

 

  • At 11 a.m., Veterans Day Celebration at the Ray County Courthouse with guest speakers; State Representative Bob Nance, RHS Principal John Parker, RHS marching band, Sunrise Elementary 5th Graders.

  • Beginning at 6 p.m., Orrick Lions Club turkey bingo at the Orrick Lions Club, Front Street, Orrick.  Chili and soup will be available to purchase starting at 6 p.m. bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. ten games will be played.

  • At 6:30 p.m., the Bob Ross Painting Class, sponsored by the Ray County Community Arts Association, will be held at the United Christian Presbyterian Church. The church is located at 501 N. Spartan Drive in Richmond. The class will be taught by a certified Bob Ross instructor. The fee is $40 and includes instruction and supplies.   • From 8 till 11 a.m., Jeffrey Kyles is going to be doing a fundraiser for Christmas for kids. They are having a breakfast fundraiser, all  proceeds stay locally. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24

  • At 8 a.m., The Hardin Community Betterment Association presents Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run/Walk on Thanksgiving morning, at Ivaloo Park. On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The event costs $20 which includes a t-shirt. All proceeds benefit renovation of Ivaloo Park.
